Backup Utility Wizard

The Backup Utility is not included in the default
installation of Windows XP Home Edition. It has to be
installed manually from the Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM
in the ValueAdd folder.

After I installed the Backup Utility I read the readme
text file, and it states that if I decide to backup to a
CDRW, I cannot target that device directly. I must create
a backup set of 650MB or less and backup to a file. Once
the file is completed I can copy the file to the CDRW. My
question is: Is there a better way to do this backup?
Because when you create the file or backup set it is
created on the hard drive which takes up a lot of space if
I want backup my hard drive. Can someone tell me why
Windows XP Home Edition Backup Utility won't backup
directly to the CDRW? Will I have to go through every
file and calculate the size up the 650MB before I can do a
system backup of my computer? Is there a better solution?
Please shed some light on this matter for me.

Thanks!! Gus P

"Is there a better way to do this backup?"

Purchase third party software.

Windows cannot include every feature that every user could want.

I have not had occasion to compare the many backup utilities available,
however, you will find plenty of reviews and comparisons in the major
computer e-zines. Try PC Magazine (www.pcmag.com) and PC World
(www.pcworld.com).

I use Norton Ghost and find it very reliable.
