I run "backup" on all my XP client machines. I set a weekly backup to copy "my
documents" to a BIG hard drive on another machine.
When I schedule the backup for weekly or daily, it quickly asks me for a
username and password/password. Ok, I can accept that. Then when I finish
and say "next" it asks me again! Username and password/password. Odd, but ok
I can accept that. I give it the same password as the user who logs in
(administrative rights) and all is well. (I will detail this below)
Well, there is one machine. The first set of passwords are rejected (!)
with the error message from Task Scheduler: "An error has occurred while
attempting to set task account information. The specific error is:
0x80070005: Access is denied. You do not have permission to perform the
requested operation."
If I continue on, it asks for the second set of passwords (and accepts
them!) and schedules the task, which failes to run....
I postulate that the second set just gets it on scheduler, and the first set
allows it to run/access files and MS has never wanted/been able to/been
prevented from assigning someone to design the program right. (Although I
sense some change since the orgional program was written)
Do you have any ideas why this "good" password may fail? Offline folders?
Detail:
Start,Programs,Accesssories, system tools, backup and run the program on
your machine and you can follow along with me on this.
Next (Wizzardmode), backup files and settings, my documents and settings,
then anywhere you want to put the backup-and any name. That "next" brings you
the to completing the Backup or Restore Wizard . . . . and there is an
advanced button.
Pushing the advanced button, Normal-Next, Next, Replace-Next, Later -
Jobname "set schedule" - choose weekly, time date etc, OK. Here is the first
"Set Account Information" box. It is this one that fails for only my
bookkeeper. After I finish this box, am am done with the window and I click
Next. This is the second spot. (This "Set Account Information" box works (or
at least it humors me by not giving me any error messages and lets me
proceed.
The user is logging in with a Domain login, Administrator rights. (I.e. I
built the computer, logged her in, logged in as Administrator and added her
domain user to the local computer to the group "administrators"
documents" to a BIG hard drive on another machine.
