Backup CD

Have a somewhat new Dell which of course doesn't come with the MS Windows
CD. Being new to these things if their is an article somewhere that
describes the difference between an iso backup, or a back up CD. or a clone
CD I sure would appreciate it if someone would point me in that direction.
Also which ones should a person have or use? Have the drives, including an
"LG" DVD RW drive, just in the dark as to what I really need to do. Thanks

Dell systems that shipped beginning in early 2005 do not come with a Windows
XP install CD. You can contact Dell and request a CD.

A 'backup' is a copy of files and folders that you wouldn't want to lose.
You can store the backed up files and folders on a CD, if you wish, or any
other medium.

A 'clone' is an identical copy of something. The term typically refers to an
identical copy of a partition or an entire hard disk. You can store a clone
on a CD, if you wish, or on many other media.

An 'ISO image' (also known as an ISO file) is a file that contains an exact
copy of the contents of a CD or DVD.

Thanks Carey, but for some reason my computer does not list a Dell OS
Recovery CD under programs or anywhere else I can find? Maybe I should just
make a clone, but not sure if thats the way to go. Gimpy..

Never mind, got hold of Dell & they are going to send me several
different CDs. Guess they no longer add the OS on the computer anymore & you
have to ask them for the CDs to be sent out !! HEY, saves them 10 cents a
computer I'll bet !! Gimpy

Judging from the posts I read in this newsgroup, people were either losing the CDs or tossing them, so I imagine Dell eventually decided "if people want CDs, let them ask us and we'll provide them."
