Backup Catch-22

V

VistaUser

I am trying to restore files backed up using Windows XP to a Vista PC.

The Vista Advanced restore program refers users to a web link to download
the Windows NT Backup - Restore Utility. When I attempt to run this program
I get a popup window that says that this utility requires that the Removable
Storage Management feature is enabled. It asks if I want to go to the
webpage that has instructions on how to enable the Removable Storage
Management. My options are Yes or No. When I click Yes, I am directed back
to the download page which states the same thing (that Removable Storage
Management must be enabled) but no instructions appear on the page.

Help!

Hi,

If you have access to an XP box and a network, you can open a share on the
Vista box and push the restore in from the XP box.
