Backspace Functionality change

Ruhge

When I hit backspace after highlighting a word or phrase
word un highlights the selection keeps the text in the
selection and moves the curser to the beginning of the
highlighted section. I would rather have it delete the
section highlighted as it was doing a while ago. Further
when I highlight a section then begin typing to replace
that selection with new text, word places the new text in
front of the text I highlighted to replace. Can any one
explain how to adjust this functionality problem?

Hi Ruhge,

In Tools> Options> Edit, check the box labeled 'Typing
Replaces Selection'

Note that this option is checked by default. So unless
you yourself unchecked it, and assuming nobody else would
have done it to your PC, it's possible you have a badly
designed macro in an add-in that runs code to disable
that option. (If, after you follow the steps above, the
problem recurs the next time you open Word, then that's
quite likely what's happening, so post back with the details.)
