Backround wallpaper.

I am trying to standardize the background wallpaper through GP but it is not
working. I set it up under user configuration, Desktop, Active desktop,
Active desktop wallpaper. It is pointing to the C drive on the same server.
I have enable active desktop enabled. When I logon with the user name I do
not see the wallpaper. Is there something I missed?

Thanks,

Is the group policy applied to a continer where the users are located?
Do all the users have access to where the standard wallpaper is located?

Try making a share on the server where Everyone has Read
rights... and point it to the share. If you point the
group policy to use like c:\wallpaper.bmp, it'll probably
be looking for the wallpaper in that exact location of
each computer it gets applied to. But you'd naturally be
wanting the paper to apply from the server's c:.

This GP is applied to an organizational unit. The bmp file is located on the
C drive of the AD server which has an admin share only.

I 'm experiencing strange problem with SP2 for Windows XP. All the pc in my
organization have company bitmap called am.bmp located into the system folder
(c:\WINNT for win2000 c:\windows for Windows XP) In policy editor I force
this files to be desktop wallpaper simply specifyng am.bmp as desktop image,
withouth specifying the complete path. All worked perfectly....except that
when I tried to install SP2 into Some machine....they begin to show a
complete white desktop. It seems that with SP2 the system cannot find the
image if I do not specify the complete path...has anyone experienced the same
problem or have a solution?

Bye.

Hi Gian-

I see a few options you could consider... others may have other ideas--what
say, everyone?
- Seeing as how it's not liking not having the full path (and so it plays
nicely)... you could use either the %WINDIR% variable
- Put the bitmap on a server share, give everyone read access to it, and map
to it via the unc path
- Would probably work even better (provide redundancy) if you put the bitmap
in the netlogon share, and mapped to it using the domain name.

Just a few ideas to kick around
