Backing up all files

Using Backup or restore wizard I do not seem to be able to back up my system
files. The directions are:

Place to save - I have put
G:\ (drive so that the system is backed up on a CD-RW)

Name of file - I have put as prompted
Backup.18.2.04

The directions that come back after clicking next are:-

The back up file name cannot be used
"G:\Backup.18.2.04.bkf"
Please ensure it is a valid path, and that you have sufficient access.

Please advise me what this means as surley I should be able to back up my
files and system files this is not a network computer but a home computer.

Valid backup media are tape, HDD or floppies (yeah right). See article: Windows Backup Does Not Back Up to CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-R Devices http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315255. A work around has been mentioned to write the file to HDD first then copy to CD.

I now use an imaging program (TrueImage) from www.acronis.com, it is much easier to use and can burn to CD directley.

I started using the freeware DrvImagerXP 5 months ago and I have not looked
back since. It has transformed my entire computing experience.
(Runs on .NET Framework; no tech support; DrvClonerXP -- can't comment: have
no experience of that -- is the same but for a 2nd HDD)
