back up utility

Hi. I installed back up utility on my XP Home IBM
computer. I Backed up 11 GB of files onto my C drive.
I can not back this back up file onto my CD-R discs.
I would like to delete the back up file on my C drive. Is
it safe to do so without affecting the original files and
setings? Thanks, Nick

I understand that WinXP will not allow you to backup directly to a CD-R disk
You will have to use 'Copy' to save your backup to a CD-R disk

The NTBackup is a tape oriented program, really there for the benefit of
people upgrading with such drives from NT. It does not regard CDs as
being removable media, so you cannot 'span' them, which reduces their
utility. And to use CDs as output media from *any* program you need a
third party 'packet writing' program, eg InCD or DirectCD or DLA

You could back up to a set of files, each small enough to fit on a CD,
then use the inbuilt burning to burn each individually. But better get
a decent third party backup program, eg BackUp My PC
