Back-up files

I backed up my XP lap top and the next day it bit the dust. I got a new vista
computer and it is not reading all of the files on the hard drive especially
the jpeg's. Any suggestions? When I try to access the files it says i do not
have proper authority.

Sounds like an issue of ownership and permissions. From Start | Help and
Support search on ownership. Go to the link Troubleshoot "access denied"
when opening files or folders for more info.

I did that. The drive works on my XP computer at work, so I burrned the files
I wanted on a disc and when I tried it on my Vista computer it read empty. I
think it is more then permissions. I guess no one else is having this problem.

You burned the files to CD? What software did you use to burn those files?
If it says the disk is empty that's not a permissions / ownership issue.
What about copying them to a USB flash drive?
