Babya Shot It, a Quake style ego shooter has been released.

Babya Shot It is a completly 3D ego-shooter with excellent graphics and
sounds!

You can move with the keyboard and look around with the mouse, like in
Quake 3 Arena.

You can collect a MG and fire with the left mouse button. You can't
walk through trees and walls.
A bot is also walking through the landscape.
Try to frag it as often as possible to get very much points. A
highscore is also included.

Also part of the upcoming Babya System '06

The doubt is now completely out of benefit.

It seems to assume some resources will be in c: and that it runs from c:,
assuming it ever worked. i.e. won't load on xp pro sp2 resident on d:

It is actually one of those metagames where the objective is to get it to
run.
Isn't it?

Damn, and I was so looking forward to shooting some egos, too.

I'm going to try to give you some constructive criticism. To start,
this program didn't work. The apparent cause was in the DirectSound
initialization.

Something you should focus on in your development is thorough checking
of the capabilities of a DirectX device you're trying to open. As an
example, does the sound driver support hardware buffering? Even if your
user is using a driver that supports hardware buffering, he/she may
have it turned off for some reason.

You should always check for the best case scenario that you want your
game to run under, and if that fails, fall back on a less optimal but
more compatible mode, so your user doesn't delete your game in
frustration when it doesn't run the first time.

Don't you mean 'shoting'?

Thanks for the advice about Babya Shot It's DirectSound. I'll keep this
in mind for future updates.

What's an "ego shooter"? A game where the objective is to shoot
yourself? Shouldn't stuff like that carry a "parental advisory"-sticker
of some sort?

I think you'll find that that this is the standard behaviour expected
from all Babya software.

There's a page devoted to him over at
http://www.teknidermy.com/issue/11/babyafied/
for the unititiated.

He must be about 18 years old now, and still hasn't shown any signs of
improvement in his coding skills over the last 4 years. I can't
understand the logic of what he's trying to do; it's actually quite
intriguing. I'm not sure if the applications "work" inside his own head,
or what the score is. Maybe it's some kind of multi-year Conceptual Art
project ... you know, like guys who wrap buildings in cellophane, and
nobody else can fathom out why.

I'd love to see a picture of what he looks like. Come on Fussy, how
about it?
