AVI's won't load

I have downloaded several avi's from my Fuji FinePix camera and they will
only load in Quicktime. Media Player or Movie Maker show a flie there, which
it says is a video file, but when I push play it is just a black screen. The
timer is running, but no video.

Find out with which codec the AVI was compressed... download and install
G-Spot from:
www.headbands.com/gspot/

Once you know what codec to download and install, then they should be able
to import it.

It says that it is an mjpg file and the codec is isntalled. when i pushed
play through gspot, it opened with quicktime which worked fine, but same
story on media player.
i also downloaded Morgan M-JPG converter from freecodec.com and that didn't
work either. any other suggestions?

Install QuickTIme Alternative (QTA). It will allow playing the files in
normal way in Windows Media Player. Although the accompanied Media Player
Classic is recommended over WMP. Hopefully installing QTA should also then
allow these files to be edited in Movie maker.
