AVI QUALITY

Hi I hope someone here can help. I am making alot of
short comedy films. I have a Panasonic PVDV200 Digital
camera. When I hook it up to my TV the quality looks
great. Clear, bright. Now....when I import to the
computer I import it as a DV AVI file. Quality starts to
degrade now it seems, at least in preview mode. I add my
music, transitions, effect etc then save BACK as a DV AVI
file.

Now here my big problem, when I play it back on my
computer it looks out of focus a bit. Not as clear. When
I use Nero 6 to make a VCD, it looks REALLY bad. Can
anyone help? Thanks in advance.

In the ranking of quality for burning and playing discs, VCD is the lowest.
What you describe is probably normal.

Moving up in quality would be SVCD, followed by DVD.

Playback on a computer monitor would be even higher.
