.AVI No images on storyboard

I'm working on a project for school and this filming and editing process has
been frustrating. My friend converted .dv files into .avi files. In
"collection", it works fine, but when I drag the clips to storyboard, there
are no images, only audio when the clip is played.

I'm having the same problem and I didn't covert any files. Apparently other
people are having this problem too as there are several threads re: this
issue. It's really aggrevating.

I am having the same problem with .avi files not showing up on the storyboard
and WMM saying the .avi is only an audio file. The .avi files work fine on
many other programs, including WMP. Any solutions that have not been posted?
