avi files-no video or audio-help please

I am not able to play any avi-files, all others are
fine.I don't have a codec error message however I get
black screen and no audio at all. I have downloaded Gspot
to detrmine which codec is needed for which file and if I
have it for a particular file. And it tells me that all
codecs that I need (mostly dvix5.0 or 50 are installed
and I should be able to play but it doesn't work. I have
already downloaded Kazaa Lite codec pack and all divix
bundles. I don't know what to do at this point. who can
help me to fix that?

I had the same problem and just having Divx5 codex wasn't
enough. I had to install the Divx5 player. Once installed
avi files would play fine, just like before WinXP.

You need to convert a avi file to wmp format.To do that,
download wmp9 series encoder,also in encoder look for
codec installation pkge,download that,theres also a few
utilitys shown,but not supported,(they work for all
other users)look at those if you need them.
