AVI displays "white" in powerpoint 2002 - Urgent help needed

I use Powerpoint 2002/XP and Windows XP.
Until recently I had no problems embedding and showing avi files and
other movies (including mpeg 1-4 etc) in PP 2002/XP.

Suddenly, several movies do not show up in powerpoint, i.e. a white
box appears when I start the clips. Other movies do play without
problems, although I beleieve that they are stored in the same
format/codec.

Everthing works fine in WMPlayer 9.0 !

I recently upgraded to DirectX 9a. Could this be the problem?

Graphics adapter: "32MB ATI RAGE 128 Ultra" on a Dell desktop P4
1.8GHz with 512 MB RAM.

Any suggestions?

Obviously, this is a bug that needs to be addressed by
Microsoft. Can one of our MVP's on this newsgroup help to
report this bug in PowerPoint (re: movies won't play if
file and/or path name is too long)??

Sure can and will do.
