AVI Cocdes???

Hello,
I've got a new machine, installed XP Pro sp1.1 on it. I've loaded some of
the divx codecs but my AVI's still sound like they are underwater or
something. WMV's sound fine but they seem to all want to open up a stupid
web page at the end. I don't know how to fix either problem. Any help???

Let's find out what codecs the file has been compressed with by you
downloading and installing G-Spot Codec identifier from
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

Once we know, we can go further!

P.s you might want to install SP2 as well!

Well, I have one with divx3 and another with divx5 and GSpot says that there
are two codecs installed that should be able to play them but the sound is
still not what it should be. These same files were playing fine on my other
machine with these same speakers but os was Win2k.

I'm a little afraid of sp2. Doesn't that require huge config time?
