With the rescue disks?

On 1st floppy AVG won't delete the old files, it just starts to add
the update - then the system hangs
I manually removed the old files and the update went fine

On 2nd floppy, (I have it formatted to 1.78Mb), but AVG just drops out
*unable to complete*

How long is it gonna take Grisoft to get this sorted (2nd time)

Is this their method to make us go payware???

similar situation, I'd noticed that updates were either un-available or so
slow that couldn't work. I tested on other systems and connections and same
results. If this is some stunt to get me to pay for 7 then it won't work.

I have manually updated using definitions from 08/09 yet control centre
still shows 01/09

I've installed AVG6 into about 40 machines for clients, if they don't get
this together I'll be putting them towards symantec not avg 'cos I'm so
pissed off!

My belief is that they have throttled the download server in which case they
are placing my system at risk!!

be warned

Agreed it seems like one day it worked after that several attempts
were needed to get the updates, and even then it would take several
days some times before I got a current update. I got sick of the
nonsense and got rid of it and switched to Symantec corporate edition
and thanks to my company, it doesn't cost me any more then avg did. (
they cover license fees for pcs that connect to the network).

I re-formatted 3 floppies and all went fine, wonder why AVG didn't ask
for the 3rd disk the first time?

Martin,

Could I ask what s/w you're using to format the FDs? I recently came across
the problem of the big avi file that wouldn't fit on to the final rescue
disk. A Google search led me to SmartFormat v2.1 which formats to a max of
about 1.7MB - more than enough for the AVG v6 file (for now anyway!!) - but
I've tried running the rescue disks from DOS (after booting with a boot
disk) and discovered that the floppy drive won't actually read the contents
of the 1.7MB FD (file is there ok according to Windows and DOS). I've tried
four sets of rescue disks in four systems running W98 (1st), W98SE, XP Home
and XP Pro. None of the f***ers can read the final FD!!!

Not much point creating rescue disks if your system can't read them. Thanks
for making the avi file bigger than 1.44MB AVG!

It looks as if they abandoned support of the free addition. They just want
us to pay money I suspect

It is a program update - the new version makes rescue discs correctly
and uses 3 discs.

If you are patient you will get the updates - they cannot serve
updates to thousands and thousands of people all at once !!!!

Are you talking about a¨recent update requiring restart? If that fixes the
problem then great,
I have not tried creating a rescue disc(s) since then
