AVG 7

I cannot get AVG7 to scan or update. I've been using AVG6 for a long time. I
tried to update to AVG7 from AVG6 and when that failed, I uninstalled 6 and
installed 7. I've done that several times to no avail. I thought maybe the
firewall settings were the problem but I followed the guide on Grisoft and
they are set according to their documentation. The AVG icon is black instead
of colored. When I sign on I get a message bubble saying AVG 6.0 is out of
date. I also get a pop up saying installation did not complete and would I
like to complete now. However, that attempt always get a " Update was
unsuccessful" message. The internal virus base in the Control panel remains
highlighted in red. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm wondering
if I uninstall SP2, download AVG7 and then re-install SP2 if that would
work. I posted on Grisoft's forum but got no help. I've used McAfee and
Norton but both slowed my system down and AVG did not. Thanks for any info
anyone can provide!

Try this: Run again the AVG7 setup file (the one you downloaded from
Grisoft), accept the license. You'll reach the screen where you'll have 3
choices:
- Add/Remove Components
- Repair
- Remove AVG

Choose Repair and let it check and repair any corrupted component or files.
Reboot when done. Check for updates.
