AVG 7 Upgrade

Sam

I've just upgraded to AVG 7 and now computer won't restart. Has to be
switched off and then back on again. Anyone had similar problems? Can't even
go back to AVG 6 cos I can't get a serial number.

Wankers!

I myself have had zero complaints about AVG Free 7 so far, but I read
quite some people have problems installing and/or running it.
These people suggest Avast! as an alternative.

I'm often curious as to the usefulness of a reply like this? I mean, the OP
obviously has problems, so I'm not sure if knowing about the people that
aren't having an issue really helps???

Sure as hell wouldn't help me in any way, but seeing as you posted - I'm so
happy that you don't have any problems either...

To the OP - try the AVG user forum as there seems to be a heap on info on
there about various problems. You only need to register to post so you can
read without doing anything. http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/

While there seems to be a heap of people happy to jump on and tell you that
there installation works fine, there are also numerous others that have had
lots of problems with AVG7, and even more that are just unhappy with some of
the changes. If you still have problems or are unhappy with the new
version, try Avast! www.avast.com or AntiVir PE www.free-av.com

I'm sure if you change those that presently have no issues will continue to
have no issues!

Hope this helps a little..

Thanks for the sermon, but I really don't see any value in replies like
this.

Maybe you should've kept READING down to the part that actually answered the
OP's question..

What YOU found really doesn't interest me..

I had a reboot problem when I installed. My XP system would end up in a loop
boot that would get have booted and re-boot. I have read that the problem is
caused by a confilict with the Roxio drivers for easy-cd creator.

I have been unable to download the updated drivers from Roxio and it looks
like I'm going to stop using AVG.

Good luck and let me know if you get the updated drivers.

I had the same problem but only on one of my machines. It would just
constantly reboot. So, I had to boot to safe mode, manually
uninstall AVG then manually install it. For some reason, I decided to
do it "automatically" on a couple others and it worked just fine
updating via their website instead of doing it all manually.

I don't use Roxio, either so it wouldn't have been that issue. I have
also (on all of my machines) had to manually download an update and
install it because it couldn't connect to their servers. It said to
check my connection... That was a couple weeks ago. Now auto updates
are working again.
