Available memory

I have a Dell with 256mb of memory. when i look at the
system info it shows between 45 and 95 mb of available
physical memory. this is really bad because i do a lot of
digital imaging on my computer and this either slows it to
a snail's pace or completely shuts down my program. how
can i free up available memory? E-Mail me please!!!!

If you are going to use digital imaging software - 256 MB of RAM is not enough. You would really have to be looking at 1 GB for a smooth operation.

or if i buy more memory, say 512, can i add the two
together to make 768?

As long as the additional memory is the same type and speed, yes you can.
