AV program scanner file exceptions?

What would be the reason that Avast lists these files "to be excluded" from
scanning? Is there no possibility that a virus could be in the swap file?

All see logical execpt %windir%\TEMP\*.TMP. These should be scanned.

You said "Is there no possibility that a virus could be in the swap file?" --- None.
