Autoshape Internal Margin

I have a presentation in which the autoshape and textboxes exhibit about a
1-line internal bottom margin.

I checked the autoshape internal margin at both 0 and 0.05 in. The shape
still shows a full line of bottom margin.

Any ideas?

KC,

You didn't identify your PPT version. Anyway, here are some suggestions:

Is the text box autoshape set for both word wrap and resize?
Is the text anchor position set to middle?

These settings can also affect the appearance /alignment of text within
an autoshape. I have found that there are times when wordwrap and auto
resize tend to fight my formatting changes. I temporarily turn off word wrap,
and allow the shape to re-size. I then turn-off resize, activate word wrap
and then manually set the shape size to meet my requirements.

I would also recommend resetting the line spacing under the format menu.
This setting should only apply when a hard paragraph <enter> is used within
the text box.

Is there text within the other autoshapes?
Autoshapes that are capable of holding text have a default font, and
line space settings. All it takes to activate these settings is entering a
single space into the autoshape. Once text has been entered into the shape,
the settings remain even after the text is deleted. These text setting can
cause unusual issues when trying to shrink an autoshape.
My work PC is configured for international language support (Asian, etc.)
The font support for these characters use unicode fonts. For some autoshapes,
the default text setting is the asian characters. I must enter english text
(a space) to override the foreign character support. The unicode fonts have
slightly different spacing requirements, and once again, it causes some
autoshape size and margin issues.

== borders
Does your autoshape have a visible border? If the width of the border line
is set very wide, it will still take up screen space even when the line color
is set to no line.

I hope one of these ideas provide a little help.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm sorry to say that as I tried your suggestions, I found I had not checked
the obvious earlier. An extra <cr> at the end of line.

The problem is solved.
