Recently i have been getting prompts when using Word :
You cannot save while the file is in use by another process. Try Saving the
file with a new name. (C:\...\auto recovery save of (date of saved file).

Then another:
Saving the Auto recovery file is postponed for (file name)

These messages come after the file I am working on has already been saved in
the system. How can I fix this annoyance?

Thanks Gerry, I am using Office 2000 and xp 2000 (sp2). I have not been
having this problem before. I pull a file from word and modify it then save
as a new file, which it does but minutes later sends me the message. Is that
helpful? Sorry for the late reply.-

What options do you have selected? In Word select Tools, Options, Save.

This may have no bearing on the problem at all,
but I'll stick it in for consideration.
I had a very similar problem in an old MSWorks word proc
which turned out to be derived from a corrupted template.
I deleted the Word Proc default template, made a new one to taste
and everything returned to normal.
The file that gave the message on mod, I simply copied
and pasted to the new template.
