Autosave does not retain settings

I have a user that accesses an Excel Workbook/Worksheet
over our network. The Workbook is stored on the Server
drive. I found an article in the Microsoft Knowledge base
stating that I needed to download and install the Service
Release 1/1a. I downloaded and installed the Service
Release, file name o2ksr1a.exe, but the Autosave function
keeps resetting to its default settings. The user that
this affects does not want to have to change the settings
back every morning when he starts-up his computer. I
didn't think that it would be necessary, but if I have to
I can install Office 2000 and the Service Release 1a on
the Server as well. I didn't think that that would be
necessary because the user is saving from his local PC and
it should still save to the original path that the
workbook was accessed from. Please, help me with this
situation.
