Autorecovery

Please refresh my memory. I seem to recall, possibly some time ago, where
EXCEL would ask me if I want to save a file, say, every 5 minutes. I think I
finally decided it was too much of a bother, so got rid of that.

Somehow, along the way, I set up autorecovery which, I assume, was something
different, since it doesn't ask, just does a (backup, I assume) save, in
case you crash. I assume if you simply closed the file without saving, you
would NOT get the changes from autorecovery, when you reopened the file
(though you still might be able to access the autorecovery file).

Can someone help me with this, please?

I like that autorecovery does these backup saves but I notice that, once it
does it, I lose the ability to use "undo" and I don't know if it's worth
that.

Thanks!

Tools=>Options, go to the Save Tab

Autorecovery was introduced in Excel 2002 I believe

Before that it was an addin shipped with Excel.
