Automatic update yellow ! warning

Constantly, repeatedly, over and over, the windows XP automatic update
yellow warning shield appears in the system tray. There are no updates
to download or install. This is an annoyance I want to stop. Turning off
updates places a permanent red warning, a nag I do not want. How to stop
this useless clutter of the systray?

Did you recently install WGA or go thru the process? If so, go
to the site and try again; you'll likely get an updated WGA. The
same thing bugged me, but it went away with one of the updates.

Just a thought.

Yes. That seems to have cured this problem.
I did a manual update and MS forced a new version of WGA. The yellow
shield remains just for a minute in the systray and then is not seen
again for the session.
Thank you.
