Automatic Update Problem

I had to restart my laptop because it was running really slow and when I
restarted it the automatic updates started installing. I got through step 1
and 2, but it gets to step 3 (configuring the updates IIRC) and stops at 93%.
Once it hits 93% the computer restarts and goes straight back to step 3 at
93%. I can't figure out how to get passed this automatic update. Any help is
appreciated. Thanks.
