Automatic Font Change In Word 2007

G

Guest

I just upgraded from Office 2003 to 2007 and I thought you should be able to
highlight a few sentences and then click on a font from the Home Ribbon
section and as you scrolls through the different fonts your text should
change to represent the font your mouse was hovering over.

In my case nothing happens. I can actual click on the font and it will
change the text but not the font review feature I was looking for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I believe there is an option buried somewhere that enables/disables "active
preview" or words to that effect.

I found an option called "Enable Live Preview" and it is grayed out. I'm not
sure why this option is not available. I did do an upgrade from Office 2003
but you would think most people would do the same as me. I guess this is why
this feature is not available to me.

Anybody have any thoughts.

Thanks.

I did try this but it is grayed out and not available. Very strange.

Hi Doug,

Hmmm. Is this in any document or just certain ones?

The Live preview feature, except when running with MS Office Communicator or MS Office Live meeting should work when using the font
dropdown from the main ribbon (it doesn't work using the same dropdown from the minitoolbar that shows up when you hover over text)

It's possible that an add-in is interfering with the operation or that Word is finding more than one startup template (such as both
Normal.dot and Normal.dotm). If you start Word 2007 in safe mode (hold ctrl+key when starting Word) do you get the same problem?

If so, does running the Office diagnostics from Button=>Word Options=>Resources change the behavior?

=============
I found an option called "Enable Live Preview" and it is grayed out. I'm not
sure why this option is not available. I did do an upgrade from Office 2003
but you would think most people would do the same as me. I guess this is why
this feature is not available to me.

Anybody have any thoughts.

Thanks. >>

I did remove Office 2007 and then did a full reinstall but the problem still
persists. Before I uninstalled Office I removed Adobe Acrobat Pro. I read
some where that Abobe could cause a problem with earlier versions of Office.
I only have 2 Com Ad-In's (1) Mappoint and (2) Adobe RoboHelp. I did remove
it from the Ad-Ins but that didn't help anything either. I also tried running
a Microsoft Office Diagnostics and a rpeair to no avail.

I do appreciate your help but I am not sure anyone will have an answer to
this problem to enable Live Preview.

Thanks again.

You can try the big hammer approach...
Remove it again. And then use the following steps to clean your computer
completely from any traces of Office 2007:

Then reinstall.

change to represent the font your mouse was hovering over.

In my case nothing happens. I can actual click on the font and it will
change the text but not the font review feature I was looking for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
