Automatic disconnect box when leaving Internet Explorer

How can I get the little "stay connected/disconnect" box to appear
automatically when I click on the x in the box at the top of the Internet
Explorer screen when I leave the screen and want to disconnect from the
Internet. It appeared automatically for a year and now I have to double-click
on the little computer icons in the task bar in order to disconnect.

r.c. Internet Explorer > c. connections > c. Settings > c. Advanced >
check: 'Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed' > OK

If button is already checked there is nothing more that you can do as
this facility is somewhat finicky and tends to come and go as it
pleases.
