I have a Samsung Q10 laptop running Windows XP Professional with the latest
drivers for the graphics chip. If autochk (the version of chkdsk that runs
on start-up) is invoked then the screen remains blank whilst it is running.
There is no display of countdown, progress or results so all you get is a
blank screen, a lot of hard disk activity and no way of telling what is going
on. The only way of telling what happened is to read the event log
afterwards (so I know autochk did actually run!).
Is there any way to restore the display, which is perfectly normal at all
other times?
