Autocalculate with blank cells.

R

Rodney

Good evening all,
apologies, I have had this answered before,
and promptly forgotten.

1. What is the name of the "autocalculate" bar at the bottom?
2. how do I have it include blank cells in "Count"
3. Why, suddenly, my Excel takes 20 seconds or so
to close. (I have turned off "re calculate on exit")

Thank you.

Tell you what if these were answered for you previously
use Google GROUPS Advanced search, placing the
email address that you used at the time as author.
For Groups use: *excel* with the asterisks
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/xlnews.htm
If you use Firefox you see search bar, and my Firefox key word shortcuts
If you use IE you can use the Google searchbar dropdown to get to groups.

Then you can please point to the message-id of where they
were answered for the benefit of others.

The Status Bar on the right side can do SUM and other
calculations, I think this is what you are referring to, since
I have the best (only) write up on it see
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/statusbar.htm

John Walkenbach has decent write-ups on the use of COUNT
so if you don't find your previous answer search his pages
(or find links to his from mine).
Hint you can find link to John's page (tip 52 is one of them) from
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/xlindex.htm

For speed considerations check
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/slowresp.htm
now surely if you had a previous problem, with speed you
would not have forgotten what you did last time. Though it
may not be same problem this time, in which case you'd have to start
over again anyway.

Thank you David!
I was feeling definitely unloved there for a while :)
thought no one was going to answer.
I'll keep your post and work through it.

Here is the bar I was talking about at the bottom of the sheet
I have right clicked it and shown the drop down box
http://cjoint.com/data/hvdjeJUjlg.htm
HTH
and thanks again!
