Auto Stretch fieldbox

I'm using Access 2000.
I have a field for First Name and Surname.
These fields are used in generating (mail merge) in a report letter.
Naturally when entering data, the length of first names and surnames will
vary.

I would like some help in being able to allow these field boxes to expand
and shrink automatically to adjust for the various length of names entered.
Effectively this will prevent a big gap between the first name and surname
in the letter if one was for instance typing something like: Tom
Abcdefghihskjkl if the first name field box was the same length as the
surname field box.

suggest you concatenate the FirstName and Surname fields in a query, and
mailmerge using the resulting single field, so you don't have to worry about
spacing. example for query:

FullName: [FirstName] & " " & [Surname]
