Auto Run Programs before Logout?

Some time in the past I believe a read of a freeware program, on this list,
that acted somewhat like the unix, .logout file: Programs listed in this
file were automatically run just before one shut down the computer.

There are a lot of cleaning operations I think I would enjoy being done
right before I close, rather than while windows is loading (e.g., programs
in the startup folder). Too bad there is not a ``shut down'' folder to do
the same thing at session's end.

Anyone know where I can find a program that runs applications upon closing
the OS?

Hi,
I use Power Off. You can find it here:

Do read the doc file.

That looks nice. I'm wondering if it could manage the following
scenario... I'd like to be able to shutdown (Win98SE) according to the
following sequence:

1. Terminate all running processes, except those needed to run a
DOS-based program in a DOS box.

2. Run said (backup) program from a batch file.

3. Power down computer.

Do you know if this would be possible?

thanks
Brian
