Auto-reply rule restriction in Outlook 2002 (automatic reply probl

It seems that Auto-reply rules willl send only ONE reply per address, no
matter how many emails from that address are received, and no matter how many
auto-reply rules apply. To auto-reply a second time to the same address,
Outlook has to be exited and restarted.

Why is this restriction? Does Outlook 2003 behave the same? Any fix?

This behavior is by design -- it's there to prevent endless mail loops.
Picture this scenario: You have auto-reply turned on, and so does Joe
Bloggs, and there is no limit to how many times the auto-reply message can be
sent to a particular recipient. Joe Bloggs sends you a message right before
leaving his office. Your auto-reply rule catches it and sends him an
auto-reply. HIS auto-reply rule catches your reply and auto-replies back.
Your auto-reply rule catches HIS auto-reply and auto-replies back again.
With the speed of most mail servers and connections these days, can you see
how quickly this could bring both servers to a crashing halt? :)
