Auto delete from junk folder after x days

Kenny

Is there a way to set up a rule to delete files from the junk folder after
they are a few days old in Outlook 2003? It gets old deleting a couple
hundred a day and I don't feel brave enough to just set the rules to
permanently delete with out having the option to check them.

Thanks,
Kenny

You should be able to set up AutoArchive on the folder to handle this.

I set up autoarchive for just the junk folder to permenately delete messages
older than 3 days. So far nothing has happened and there are messages over a
week old. I even changed the default autoarchive frequency to every day
thinking that the one I set for the junk folder would only run when the
default one did, but still nothing happened. Am I missing something? Is
there a way to turn autoarchive on/off somewhere that I missed?

Thanks for your response,
Kenny

Tools | Options | Other | AutoArchive. Setting the properties on the folder
is just one step. You also have to set the overall autoarchive interval.

I already have "Run autoarchive every 2 days " checked
along with "Archive or delete older items", "Show archive folder in folder
list" and "Move old items to c:\Documents and Settings.....".
I'm not sure if I ever hit the "apply these settings to all folders now"
button, so I just hit it now.

Is there still something I'm missing, and will the "remove items older than
3 days" rule in the Junk folder only run when the default autoarchive
frequency runs it?

Thanks,
Kenny

Exactly.
