Auto Cropping

Folks:

I am looking for any software or technique that can automate the cropping of
images in a Word file.

I have a Microsoft Word file that contains 100 slides or graphics or images.

To get rid of information (on each slide) that I don't need, I must cut 2
inches from all sides (top, bottom, left, right) of each graphic.
Now I can do this process manually. Microsoft calls it "cropping an image."
But the number of images is too great to continue manually.
There must be a way to automate this cropping process.

* How can I automate this cropping (image editing) task ?

Again the cropping process is identical in each image.

Thanks,
JoJo.

Maybe the freeware IrfanView would
be worth a try.

Instructions pasted below:

IrfanView

(get the plug-ins too)

"Batch Cropping In IrfanView"

This is easier to do than it is to explain
but I'll try to give you the steps.

Open IrfanView and go to...View /
Display Options / Fit Images To Window.

Open one of the images to be cropped in
IrfanView...(File / Open...Browse).

On the open image...left click / drag a box
around the exact area you wish to retain
in the finished crop.

The position of the selection can be
adjusted by right click dragging the 4-way
arrow and the edges can be adjusted by
left click / dragging the 2-way arrow.

When you are happy with your selection...
write down the "Selection" numbers at the
top of the screen.

Example: 459, 126; 2100 x 2100
(this example cropped a square selection
from the center of 3000 x 2400 landscape
images)

Now, go to...File / Batch Conversion...

On the Batch Conversion screen...
open the folder that contains the files to be
cropped...select the files...click the "Add All"
button to move them to the lower pane.

Choose a save location (Output Directory)
for the cropped images.

Tick..."Batch Conversion"

Choose your Output format (JPEG).

Click the "Options" button and choose 100% / OK.

Now the important part...

Check the box "Use Advanced Options"

Click "Advanced" button

On the "Settings" screen...click "Crop"

Enter the numbers you previously wrote
down in their respective fields.

Now click OK.

Back on your main Batch Conversion screen
click "Start Batch".

That should do it.

Good luck.....
