audio begins before video

When I want to play my edited film the audio/sound begins before the actual
moving pictures. What am I doing wrong? I imported videoclips from my
videocamera and pictures from the digital camera. The saved file begins with
some pictures and after a couple of pictures the video begins. However the
video sound begins whilst watching the pictures ie not in sync with the
actual film.

This can happen when using file types which aren't that compatible with MM,
such as mp3 for music, use wav/wma instead, or jpeg for stills, use bitmap.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is still there. I have now changed the mp3
file to wav but I still have the bad sync. I have now used a test file with
only a short video excerpt (10 sec) and as soon as I import the audio file
(either mp3 or wav) the audio in the video begins to early. The video file is
saved in AVI.

Actually, the audio and the film in the video begins at the same time but
then, once started, the audio is faster than the film (or the film is slower
than the audio).

Is the avi a dv-avi file or another sort of avi?
