Audio and video out of sync

I am trying to capture from a vcr using Pinacle's 500-USB device. I have
component video going through the 500-USB and I have the component audio
going into the microphone port of my soundcard (because Movie Maker doesn't
seem to recognize the audio if I put it through the 500-USB). Everything I
capture has the audio out of sync. It is about a half second behind the
video. Is there anything I can do to solve this?

Thanks,
Jeff

When you use MM are you specifying the correct ausio input when setting up
for your capture? If so, did you check the audio level?

Yes I have it set up to capture from the microphone...as that is the port
that I have to use. And I have to keep the audio level fairly low or the
sound is too loud and not clear. The sound is coming through fine....it's
just out of sync for the first 2 or 3 minutes of capturing and then it is
fine.

When you choose the audio input device what does MM say when you select the
USB? With my Pinnacle USB device I choose the same device for both audio and
video - but I have both the audio and video hooked up the the USB device. One
option is to record the video only then record the sound only the add the
clip with the sound to the "sound" track of the movie.

MM doesn't give me the option of choosing my Pinnacle USB device for
audio...only my sound card shows up as an option. My USB device shows up for
video input though.
I've managed a work around for now, I input my VCR through my digital video
camera and into a firewire port and I can capture just fine. Thanks for your
help.
