Audigy 2 installed but no sound

I've successfully installed Vista (32 bit) but am having real problems with
My Audigy 2 soundcard.
I've downloaded the Beta drivers from the creative site and extracted them
to a folder. I've then used Device manager to install these drivers by
pointing aat that folder.

The soundcard claims to have installed fine, and the volume control applet
is accessible, WMP11 happily plays videos and music and looks as if it should
be outputting sound. Nothing comes from my speakers though.

I'm dualbooting with XP, and switching to that, the speakers work fine, so
its not a hardware or connection issue.

I've tried playing with the sound quality and speaker setup settings but
I've not managed to get any sound with any of them.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

"What driver version does DM report?"
5.12.8.1164 for the most recent XP drivers and 5.12.10.1162 for the Beta
drivers from Creative's site - no idea where you're getting the 5.12.4.522
drivers from?

I've now tried Winamp, VLC and WMP and I've not been able to get any sound
from any of them.

I just bought this card yesterday. The drivers came from the supplied CD
which are working fine.
Try removing all your related sound software and then shutting down the
computer, remove the card. Start the computer up again with no card
installed. Then shut down again, install card, and start back up. See if
it recognizes the card and asks you for the driver.
See if you can download the drivers I am using from their web site.
They are working fine for me.

I've actually managed to sort it out - not perfectly - but I have sound.
I've installed the free alternative 'kxproject' drivers. They've only
enabled my rear speakers, but its better than silence!
