I've seen several posts, including my own, where people
are having problems with Messenger loading on an XP
machine. I don't understand why you haven't responded to
any of these. Maybe you just don't know the answer? If
so, that's ok, just please state as such so that we don't
feel left out as you answer all of the other posts.
The problem again is that Messneger won't load. It used
to. I've tried the 4.7 that came with XP and I've tried
the 6.0 but they do the same thing - nothing. After a
while a standard windows error message does pop-up. I've
made sure the messenger service is running and that
messenger is seleted in msconfig. What else could be
causing it to fail? I've uninstalled and re-loaded
several times to no avail. IE and other network/internet
programs work fine.
Also, if I log onto the same XP machine with another
login Messenger works fine. Thus, I suspect there are
specific user settings somewhere that have become
corrupted and the uninstall/reinstall has no effect on
resetting them.
I am runnig Norton Anti-Virus but have disabled it and
all other background apps to try and pinpoint the source
of the problem -- no luck.
Please provide some guidance as to what I might try to
resolve this.
