Attempting to have fields disappear and reappear using tabs

I am attempting to have a form change fields based on a click of a box (a rectangle). The change also includes 2 subforms. For example, when rectangle1 is clicked 8 fields display. When rectangle2 is clicked, the s 5 fields plus the one subform are displayed. The problem I am having is when rectangle 1 is clicked again after rectangle 2,3, or 4, not all of the fields reappear.
