Hi Steve,

To enable attachments to be opened in OE:
Click on Tools
Select Options
Click the Security Tab
Uncheck the box which says:
"Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus.
Click Apply
Click Ok.

You should now be able to open attachments. Be certain to have
a real time virus scanner installed with up to date definition files! :)

Hi Steve,

If you are sure that the attachment is safe to download or open, use the
following method:

Turn off the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus option:
Start Outlook Express.
On the Tools menu, click Options.
Click the Security tab, click to clear the Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus check box under Virus
Protection, and then click OK.

Hi,
Please open OE, click Tools -> Options -> Security ->
Uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved..."

May this help you.

On your OE page select Tools - Internet options -Security
& uncheck the box beside 'Do not attachments to be saved
etc' This is the answer to your problem but ensure you
have antivirus and firewall protection.

A suggestion: ask a question! I see a situation, can guess what your
problem may be, but since you didn't really state a question, it's all
conjecture.

A better suggestion: take your problem to a group dealing with OE.
This one is for the XP OS. Bye bye now.

Remember this option as most of the time a security update is applied via
windows update resets OE security

Tools/Options/Security and uncheck 'do not allow attachments etc....., apply
and OK.

Greetings --

Outlook Express' default security settings are simply trying to
protect you. OE has no way of telling whether an attachment actually
contains a virus or not, so it temporarily blocks any of those file
types that could potentially contain a virus. In Outlook Express,
Tools > Options > Security, uncheck the "Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" option, assuming
you trust the source, of course. The wiser course of action, however,
would be to modify your list of unsafe files, as outlined in the KB
articles below:
