ATI X1950XTX 3DMark CPU Scores are terrible

Hello-

I have had this issue for a while and am puzzled. I know it is not
relating to the video card because it did the very same thing with my
X850 single and in crossfire. I now have a X1950XTX and it does the
same. Here is the deal.

My current system is this:
Abit AW8-D
Pentium D 950
2GB Corsair DDR2
ATI X1950XTX
Creative X-Fi Extreme

Back when I had the Abit AW8-Max using a Pentium 4 650 my cpu scores
were in the lowish range but definately between 1-2 FPS in 3dmark05.
When I changed processors to the Pentium D 805 and overclocked the crap
out of it the CPU scores went up by a lot! averaging about 5fps in the
2 CPU benchmarks in 3dmark 05.

Well I could only get my FSB up to 169 on the AW8-Max due to a
motherboard limitation. At that point i switched to the AW8-D and it
seems since I have done that the CPU scores are terrible and I dont
really know where to turn to find out whats going on. So I ask here to
see if anyone has heard of this or know what could cause it or if its
even normal.

It just bugs me a lot because with the Pentium D 950 my cpu scores are
about half what they were with the P4 650. The D 950 is OC'd to 4.4Ghz
also I should mention.

I guess as another sidenote the CPU scores in 3dmark 06 seem low also,
they are in the low to mid 1's for FPS.

Anyone have anything of an idea?

Thanks!

The test is designed to isolate the CPU and runs at 640x480. The influence
of video card on performance has been minimized on purpose. (Duh!)

The AW8-MAX has the i955 chipset, while the AW8-D has the i975, if I'm not
mistaken. Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers installed from
Intel's website.

Read up on the 3DMark 06 help file. The CPU test should be running at a
fixed 2 fps, so don't expect smooth animation. :)

Truth be told, the CPU tests in 3DMark 05 and 06 are quite silly and
unrealistic. It's the equivalent of running the game entirely through
software rendering, vertex shader operations included. There's some
pathfinding AI and physics, but most of the CPU time is spent doing graphics
calculations that would normally be handled by the video card.
