ATI Rage XP 8mb PCI on Win2k: how to adjust gamma?

W

Willy Kreim

Hi,

It seems ATI didn't include gamma correction manual controls (or a
brightness setting) on their Windows 2000 drivers for the ATI Rage XP.

Is there any way to do gamma correction on the ATI Rage XP / 128
series with Win2k? I don't mind running an external, third party
utility.

Or is there some registry setting to bring back the color correction
controls in the drivers?

All the "control panel" utils I've found are for higher-end cards from
ATI... nothing for my trusty old ATI Rage XP.

The drivers I'm using are identified as "5.0.2184.1" signed by
Microsoft corp.

That is your problem.

Remove the Microsoft-signed drivers and install the latest beta
drivers from ATI.

THEN -and only then- you will be able to install the ATI RAGE tweak
util
from:

http://www.rageunderground.com/r128tweaker.shtml

With this you will be able to adjust the brightness -and hence chroma-
of your monitor.

Bye
Samuel.
