Hi Sylvain,
I don't have experience with those glasses on ATI cards but E-D is saying
it should work.
You say you are using a LCD monitor.
When I bought these glasses about two years ago, the reseller told me that
LCD wouldn't work at all.
Looking at E-D's site they say: "Exclusive support for all video cards and
both
CRT and LCD monitors" so something must have been improved.
But I find this strange because those glasses need a very high refresh rate
to be
usable. Lower refresh rates might work but that gives a lot of strain on the
eyes.
Personally, I wouldn't use these glasses for a long period of time with
refresh
rates below 140Hz.
LCD monitors can only deliver 60 to 75 (or maybe 80) Hz.
Remember that those glasses work by alternately switching between left eye
vision and right eye vision. When the left glass is 'open' the right glass is
'closed'.
Doing this at just 60..75 Hz and knowing that each eye gets an image only
50% of the time...
Another note: this technology isn't perfect.
Many (if not all) directx games use 3d AND 2d images while drawing the
scenery. 2d images aren't translated properly and appear as if they are
floating
straight before your nose.
Especially annoying are the mouse pointer and effects like coronas around
lightsources.
So far I've only found one single game in which the glasses worked 99%.
and that was Myst URU (again, the mouse pointer was a problem).
Unreal tournament was also very do-able after switching off coronas and
adjusting the brightness of the game.
Don't know how 'real 3d' WoW is.. might work... might not.
regards,
Marcel
