Hi all,
I have Office 2003 and Office 2000 installed on a Windows 2000
machine. I have a presentation that has a .wmv file embedded in a
slide. The file will play fine in Powerpoint 2003 (this is primarily
because Office 2003 is more multimedia friendly and uses Windows Media
Player 9 to play the file) but will not play in Powerpoint 2000. I had
tried the acid test of playing the file with mplayer32.exe but
continue to get the error: "A problem occurred in initializing MCI."
If it doesn't play with mplayer32.exe it will not work with PPT 2000
and sure enough I get an error when I try to play it in the
presentation.
I have tried everything I could find on the web regarding
mplayer32.exe and PPT 2000, especially the Myers Multimedia FAQ by
Austin Myers:
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00099.htm
I have made sure I have the correct video CODECS installed as well as
the correct registry settings as per the FAQ listed above. I have even
done Windows 2000 repair but all to no avail.
If anyone could provide any assistance it would be greatly
appreciated! Thanks in advance!
