ASUS 9600XT Cooling

Hello. Has anyone performed the operation to replace the stock heatsink and
fan on the ASUS 9600XT video card with a heatpipe device like the Zalman or
Thermaltake? If so, was the stock HS/Fan assembly easy/difficult/other to
remove and prepare for the heatpipe?

Thanks.

Have not tried this either but was looking into it because my 9800 fan is
getting louder. I saw the Zalman heatsink at the store and it needs a lot of
space on both sides of the card so it might be in the way of the MB memory.
Also weighs a lot and they caution about moving the PC because of the
weight. The fans for the Thermaltake are loud at high speed(38db) not sure
about the Zelman add on fan).
I saw someone on another forum recommend the Arctic-Cooler VGA Silencer, but
the 9600 version is due out Feb.

It cost less than the heatsink kit ($22), is light, quiet and keeps the card
a lot cooler.

The heatsink is extremely easy to remove; it's not glued on, but held on
with two plastic pins (just use fine needlenose pliers on the reverse side
to compress the "arrowhead" catches and pull the pins out) and double sided
tape (thermally conductive? I presume/hope so) on the memory chips.
Ordinary thermal compound, not glue, is used on the processor.

As to putting anything else on, haven't tried that.
