asp not supported?

In FP2003 I generated an Access database using the wizard to post data to
from a form also generated in FP2003 and saved as .asp. When I try to publish
to the server running WIN2003 I get an error that says

"The following pages in your web site are Active Server Pages (ASP) They may
not work because the server you are publishing to does not support ASP"

The files/pages listed are the global.asa and the .asp form page. When I try
to post data using the form page on the site it gives me the confirmation
page but doesn't post. ASP is allowed on the server settings. Any input
appreciated.

Contact your host and make sure the hosting plan supports ASP and ASP is enabled on the site

This is a local server running Win 2003 and I have full admin. ASP is
enabled. Everything seems to work except the data just wont post to the
database.

Is the FP SE installed? Is the database stored in the fpdb folder?

Yes FP SE ver. 2002 are installed and allowed and the db is in the fpdb folder.

Have you run a server health check and allowed it to correct the permissions?

Not being sure about the server we took a newer one and re-installled WIN
2003 and did all the above and still get the same results. I get the feeling
that there's a flag or service that needs to be set. I just can't figure out
where. The pages all display OK and I get a confirmation and a thank you for
entering such and such, but when I look at the database results it's empty,
nothing posts like it should. FP SE and ASP shows allowed. But when I
publish the site using ftp I get errors that say that the server doesn't
support asp.

If the site has FrontPage extensions do NOT use FTP - this will corrupt
the extensions. The website should be HTTP published to the server
using File->Publish Site command in FrontPage and choosing the HTTP
(FrontPage extensions) option. Using this option would have also placed
the correct permissions on the fpdb folder which FTP cannot do.

Repair the extensions - either run Server Health Check on the server or
re-install the extensions on the site.
Then open the remote site in FrontPage and use File->Import to import an
Access database file. (this can be deleted afterwards, and need only be
an empty table). Allow FrontPage to import the database to the fpdb
folder. FrontPage will then correct the permissions on fpdb folder.

Thank you it now works. But I wonder why there is a FTP choice in FP to
publish if it only corrupts the extensions.

The FTP choice is there for sites that do not have FrontPage extensions.
With these sites, permissions have to be set manually on the server,
either using a control panel or by the server administrator.
