ARP Static entry

Hi, I add a static entry in the ARP table with a dummy MAC address, I do that to avoid a user MAC address from accessing my network. After a minute, this static MAC will be override with the client owne MAC address. Is there a way to keep my static entry and not to be changed everytime the client access the server? I am using windows 2000 server.

Hi,

Using static arp entries for security purposes is not a good idea. You
should look into 802.1x authentication if you want to prevent access to
your network based on mac addresses.
The behavior you are seeing is known and not scheduled to be changed in
Windows 2000 or NT. There were some changes made in the Win9x behavior
related to this.

Thanks,
