Applying folder views to some sub folders only.

Spikey

I know how to apply the views to all folders.

But what I would prefer is to apply the view to only the folders "below".
For instance apply the specific views to My Pictures and have all the sub
folders within set the same to thumbnails. At the moment its all or
nothing.

Is there a tweak available anywhere?

TIA

It's not a "Tweak". It is normal operation.

Remember the View Settings have a Checkbox "Remember each folder's Vire
settings.

If you set the "All Folders" default to "Details"
when done, go back to My Pictures" and click View "Thumbnails."

It will remember the setting for your next visit.

That will only set individual files. Not what I'm after I'm afraid. Thanks
for replying.

I'd better clarify this I think. I should have said at the moment its all
folders or 1 at a time.

I want to be able to set My Pictures and all subfolders within to
thumbnails. All docs such as correspondence and all its subfolders view
list. All program storage folders and subfolders to details etc.

At the moment I can only set all files to for example view thumbnails then
set individual folders to something else by doing each one.

I hope thats clearer.

Hi Spikey,

I'm not aware of any way to do that natively in Windows. My only thought
would be to check out Softpedia, or MajorGeeks, etc. Maybe they will have a
third party app. that can do that.

Here's the canned description of my script with a link:

---
I've written a script that will apply all the view customizations you can
set to all of a folder's
subfolders. Right-click the link below & save to your computer. The zip
file contains a readme
file & the script itself.

You can select a folder & configure its view settings, then those are set to
be inherited by all
subfolders (you have the option of saving or wiping out current saved views)
.. You can set a
default for My Pics, another for My Music, and then a more generic default
for My Computer. The
inheritance settings are separate from the folder view itself -- for
example, you can set a
non-grouped view to be the default inheritance for My Computer, then return
My Computer to its
standard 'group by type' layout after running the script without affecting
the default view you have
set.

Keith this seems exactly what I've been after for years. Thank you so
much. I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Keith,

When I click your link zip link above, I get a message saying:

"Locked

The requested resource is currently locked. The lock must be released or proper identification given before the method can be applied."

Could you please send me a copy of your zip file? It appears to be exactly what I need. Thanks!
